First principles of Hamiltonian medicine.

چکیده
We introduce the field of Hamiltonian medicine, which centres on the roles of genetic relatedness in human health and disease. Hamiltonian medicine represents the application of basic social-evolution theory, for interactions involving kinship, to core issues in medicine such as pathogens, cancer, optimal growth and mental illness. It encompasses three domains, which involve conflict and cooperation between: (i) microbes or cancer cells, within humans, (ii) genes expressed in humans, (iii) human individuals. A set of six core principles, based on these domains and their interfaces, serves to conceptually organize the field, and contextualize illustrative examples. The primary usefulness of Hamiltonian medicine is that, like Darwinian medicine more generally, it provides novel insights into what data will be productive to collect, to address important clinical and public health problems. Our synthesis of this nascent field is intended predominantly for evolutionary and behavioural biologists who aspire to address questions directly relevant to human health and disease.

Quantitative analysis of the first-principles effective Hamiltonian approach to ferroelectric perovskites
The various approximations used in the construction of a first-principles effective Hamiltonian for BaTiO3, and their effects on the calculated transition temperatures, are discussed. An effective Hamiltonian for BaTiO3 is constructed not from first-principles calculations, but from the structural energetics of an atomistic shell model for BaTiO3 of Tinte et al. This allows the elimination of c...
متن کاملGeometric-Arithmetic Index of Hamiltonian Fullerenes
A graph that contains a Hamiltonian cycle is called a Hamiltonian graph. In this paper we compute the first and the second geometric – arithmetic indices of Hamiltonian graphs. Then we apply our results to obtain some bounds for fullerene.
متن کاملTight-binding Hamiltonian from first-principles calculations
The tight-binding method attempts to represent the electronic structure of condensed matter using a minimal atomic-orbital like basis set. To compute tight-binding overlap and Hamiltonian matrices directly from first-principles calculations is a subject of continuous interest. Usually, first-principles calculations are done using a large basis set or long-ranged basis set (e.g. muffin-tin orbit...
متن کاملSymmetry group, Hamiltonian equations and conservation laws of general three-dimensional anisotropic non-linear sourceless heat transfer equation
In this paper Lie point symmetries, Hamiltonian equations and conservation laws of general three-dimensional anisotropic non-linear sourceless heat transfer equation are investigated. First of all Lie symmetries are obtained by using the general method based on invariance condition of a system of differential equations under a prolonged vector field. Then the structure of symmetry ...
متن کاملFinding the Shortest Hamiltonian Path for Iranian Cities Using Hybrid Simulated Annealing and Ant Colony Optimization Algorithms
The traveling salesman problem is a well-known and important combinatorial optimization problem. The goal of this problem is to find the shortest Hamiltonian path that visits each city in a given list exactly once and then returns to the starting city. In this paper, for the first time, the shortest Hamiltonian path is achieved for 1071 Iranian cities. For solving this large-scale problem, tw...
